The new $45 million nine level Geelong Library project under construction by Kane Constructions is well on the way to becoming a state-of-the art facility.
The unique dome shaped building is the design work of ARM Architecture with striking features and attention to detail continued within the internal rooms.
‘GEELONG’S NEW LIBRARY IS TOMORROW’S ARCHITECTURE HERE TODAY. IT’S AN ICONIC BUILDING … A PIECE OF ART THAT WILL MAKE PEOPLE THINK AND BRING PEOPLE TO THE CITY.’ JOHN MITCHELL, GEELONG MAYOR
With an alternative required to reduce on site construction time without jeopardising the architectural vision for the level 5 function room ceiling feature, SBS were awarded the contract to provide a superior pre-fabricated lightweight aluminium Ultra Frame solution. Hexagonal shaped panels were designed, detailed, manufactured and then delivered to site, ready for immediate and easy installation, on time and within budget.
The project is scheduled to be opened to the public at the end of the year.
