It’s been nearly 12 months since we were awarded the two stage contract to design and pre-fabricate truss facade framing for the Melbourne Park Admin & Media Building. Considering a complex challenging brief with extremely tight access combined with light loadings to the structure, SBS finally delivered the last module truss this week.
The structural lightweight innovative framing solution replaced heavy structural steel, allowing the cantilever action to work on the building and achieving the consultants design. The alternative system not only supported the window loads but also enabled the contractor to pre-clad the frames off site whilst craning large modules into position. Acknowledging the requirements for speed and accuracy, a specialised engineered and adjustable hook bracket system was fabricated and supplied to anchor the pre-clad trusses to the building floors.
We look forward to seeing the finished project, expected in September of this year.
